Student Placement Opportunities
Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre aims to provide meaningful learning opportunities to students in a range of post-secondary programs and who have an expressed interest in learning and gaining skills in a Community Health Centre setting. Our staff provide orientation, direct supervision, guidance and evaluation to students, as well as a range of exciting, engaging and experiential learning opportunities to ensure successful experiences which benefits students, clients and our community. Students enrolled in a post-secondary or bridging program that requires them to complete a certain number of hours in their field of study as a prerequisite for graduation are prioritized.
To help you select the program or service you may be interested in, we encourage you to learn about our different programs and services in the ‘Who We Are’ and ‘Programs and Services’ section of our website.
Although our staff population consists of wide-ranging professions and disciplines, placement opportunities most commonly available include:
- Clinical Services (RN, NP, MD programs)
- Harm Reduction
- Health Promotion
- Medical Office Administration
- Nutrition
- Social Work and Counselling
We generally host unpaid placements only and the availability of opportunities heavily depends on our operational demands and capacity. We are unable to provide placements for many who apply. As well priority is often given to students from schools that are locally based and with which we have existing relationships and, in some cases, such as with our Indigenous programming, students identified from specific populations.
Student placement positions will be posted as available. Please read placement postings carefully before submitting a request. Though, there may be no specific opportunities posted, inquiries can be made through the link below. Please do not reach out to staff directly.
